Morgan Hesse

Morgan Hesse is an interdisciplinary artist working across photography, fiber, sculpture, and installation. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts at East Carolina University.

Hesse’s practice explores memory, inherited histories, and the ways personal and collective narratives are preserved, transformed, and reconstructed over time. Drawing from her family’s connection to the textile industry in Kannapolis, North Carolina, she combines photographic processes with fiber-based techniques to examine the relationships between labor, place, grief, and remembrance.

  Hesse has exhibited her work throughout the United States. Most recently, she was invited to show at Representative Winslow’s Office at the State Legislative Building in Raleigh, North Carolina. Participated in the Emerging Vision: Biennial Student Show at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver, Colorado, and has shown Those Known To Me, a solo exhibition at the Greensboro Project Space in Greensboro, North Carolina.
